9. Use natural approaches and minimise chemical use

If you need to use chemicals, we recommend seeking advice on which chemicals are best to use for different situations and how to minimise their use.  Be aware that the formulae stated on chemical labels relate to agricultural or garden settings – you generally need to use much less in native vegetation.

Chemical use fact sheets

Reptiles

In Australia, all reptiles are protected by law and you generally cannot collect them from the wild. In some states you need a licence to keep reptiles as pets. To find out about the laws in your state, contact your State or Territory National Parks and Wildlife Service.
